Soy Fabrics
Soy bean protein fibre (SPF) is a new textile fibre with unique properties. It is classified as a ‘green’ fibre because it comes from a renewable resource. The fabric is bio-degradable and is easily manufactured as a by-product of the pressing of soy oil.SPF is the only plant-based protein fibre. It contains 16 active amino acids, making it ideal for sensitive skin types. It is as soft as silk with very similar properties in terms of drape and warmth. Just like wool, it is warm in winter and cool in summer. But in contrast to wool, soy offers excellent protection against UV radiation, rating even better than cotton and viscose. Soy also has superior moisture wicking capacities.
